AX 11: Ladies, Aksys has Hakouki ready to court you

What's that you say, female gamers? "There are too many male-oriented games and I'd like to see a few that cater mainly to my needs for once?"

Indeed, the gulf between male- and female- pandering is a little too wide to be healthy, but thankfully Aksys games is out to remedy that, and part of their solution is Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. When it comes out for the PSP early next year, it will be one of the English-speaking world's very first officially-sanctioned "otome games". In case you're wondering what an otome game is, it's basically a romance game for the ladies.

And by "for the ladies" we mean, "overflowing with hot, sparkly men". The men in this game are members of the Shinsengumi, samurai defenders of Kyoto from the end of Japan's Edo period. And you, the player, are Chizuru Yukimura, an impressionable young girl out to find her father (and true romance) in the secretive town of Hakuoki.

Mmmm, sparkly men....
