AX '14: MangaGamer announces OZMAFIA, No, Thank You!!, and more

Otome and BL Game fans rejoice

MangaGamer's ready to reveal their new titles, and team's ready to try something new. If you happen to be a fan of Otome and/or BL Games, then you'll be happy to know that MangaGamer's planning to localize OZMAFIA and No, Thank You!!. For the record, No, Thank You!! is the name of an actual BL game, which means that I'm not dissing OZMAFIA for being an Otome game.

Back to the important topic at hand, OZMAFIA focuses on an amnesiac girl know as Fuuka that ends up being saved by the Oz Family Mafia. Seeing that Poni-Patchet's title has a few mob wars in the game, Fuuka's most likely in for a dangerous time, as she decides on the guy that she's going to date.

Next up, we have No Thank You!!, a BL Game by pa-rade that lets you control a guy who loses his memories in an accident. Luckily, the game's main character's saved by a guy that lets him work at a jazz bar in the downtown area known as "sotano." While No Thank You!!, sounds like a bar-themed BL title, the game's juicy bit has to do with the bar workers being detectives that solve deadly cases that no one's willing to undertake.

Aside from the Otome and BL Games, MangaGamer plans to localize Liarsoft's steampunk VN game, Gahkthun of the Golden Lighting. Interestingly, Gahkthun has you play as Nikola Telsa, as he goes on adventures in an alternate Earth that's linked to an alien planet known as Kadath. Since Kadath has elements that are similar to Lovecraft's Dreamworld, I'm certain that Gahkthun's setting will be worthwhile. Also, you can't go wrong with Telsa being a detective that pilots a giant robot.

And lastly, MangaGamer's releasing an updated version of Higurashi for Steam that features updated sprites by Caramelbox's Kurosaki (Uhou Renka). In other words, the game will feature artwork that surpasses Ryukishi07's style. Besides the updated art, Higuarshi's receiving the chapter format, with the first chapter hitting Steam at the end of the year. On top of that, MangaGamer's releasing the update title on their Website as well, which'll grant Steam Keys to those who purchase the game there.

Based on MangaGamer's new announcements, I have to give them props for localizing Otome and BL Game, since it'll help expand their market. Other than that, Gahkthun looks intriguing, and it's great that Higurashi's getting an updated Steam release. As we wait for MangaGamer's new titles to come out, you can check out the images from Gahkthun, the updated Higurashi, No, Thank You!!, and OZMAFIA in the gallery below.

Now that we're done with the MangaGamer-related news, are all looking forward to any of the games that were revealed at AX?
