Babymetal performing with Metallica and Iron Maiden at Sonisphere Festival UK

Lots of babies and lots of metal

Babymetal, the band the internet is just now getting around to hyping up, will be performing alongside bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden this year in the UK's Sonisphere Festival. It only seems like just yesterday Hiroko had a nice little chat with them, and now they're taking over the world. It may seem a little bizarre, but after the pint-sized rockers were featured on an English music magazine, they were offered a spot in the rotation. This makes them the only Japanese artists appearing in the festival, and their first time appearing in concert in England. They're just racking up their firsts. What? They're babies, after all.

Babymetal has also announced plans for a European tour, with dates to be released shortly. I'm just counting down the days until a North American tour is announced, given the entire internet's propensity to back things that seem to crop up like this rabidly and wholeheartedly. Me? I think they're cute and all, but the gimmickry doesn't have me sold. They're not exactly excellent vocalists, but they've got something different going on at least. If you're heading out to check them out at the festival, let us know how it turns out!
