Bandai bringing Gundam 00, Haruhi movies to US Blu-ray

While it was no surprise that Bandai announced at Sakuracon that they're going to release Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer on DVD, it was pretty big news that the movie is also going to hit Blu-ray as well. Typically squeamish with its HD releases, Bandai will be simultaneously releasing both versions some time this summer. This was announced along side news that The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya would be coming out on DVD and Blu-ray this summer. Shots of the 00 DVD/Blu-ray covers were posted on their Facebook page as well.

I've been pretty vocal about my support of Blu-ray. The glorious detail you can get with the high-def format makes it the superior choice in my eyes every time and its disappointing that Funimation has been the only company pushing the format. Now it seems that Bandai is taking the format seriously with the release of two of its bigger franchises.

I'll be there day one for Haruhi, but I'll be waiting until the rest of Gundam 00 is released on Blu-ray before I pick up the movie. I very much like the show, but I want the best version of the show instead of the low While we're on that subject, I'd like those smexy Geass Blu-rays as well. Am I the only one here who would snap those up in a second or is it just me?
