Behold, a figure that costs 60 million Yen

Golden indeed!

Yes, friends, you read that headline correctly. Sixty million Yen. As of this writing, that's a shade under $586,000. What a way to celebrate Saint Seiya, right?

In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of Saint Seiya's Saint Cloth Myth project, Bandai commissioned Tanaka Jewelers to construct a solid gold figurine of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. Sculpted from two kilos of solid gold, the figure stands about 15cm high, and isn't for sale.

I have to say, it's actually quite pretty, but then again, most things Saint Seiya are pretty. And shiny. That's kinda their thing. I do worry a bit, though. Though having something made of solid gold rather than simply gold-plated makes it fabulously luxurious, gold isn't exactly the hardest metal around. Whoever's in charge of storing that thing will have to be pretty careful with it if it's to avoid dents as it tours the world on its scheduled series of exhibitions.
