Berserk fans rejoice as a new anime series is announced

The Internet is blowing up today at the news of Berserk finally getting another anime adaptation. The dark fantasy tale of a man enacting revenge of a land now plagued with demons and monsters only produced one arc back in 1998. Back then the anime ended on a cliffhanger, and everyone wept as the story was exclusively continued in Kentaro Miura's sporadically released manga. Animated movies were made re-telling the Golden Age arc, but there hadn't been any more media that pushed the Berserk story forward until now.

Young Animal's first 2016 issue reports a new anime adaptation of Berserk focussing on Guts's "Black Swordsman" appearance is in the works. The first footage will be shown in NBC Universal's booth at Winter Comiket December 29-31. We are still thin on the details so it's still up in the air whether it'll be a full 24 episode anime series like the first release or another set of film releases like the Golden Age Arc. The Black Swordsman arc follows Guts as he treads the new demon filled world on the hunt for the first apostle The Count. The first episode of the 1997 series follows the manga faithfully as we see Guts defeat the Snake Baron. My guess is that it will be more of the same to continue where the previous anime left off.

Berserk author Kentaro Miura has stated that the next chapter of the manga will be released "around summer" next year as the series is going on hiatus.

To coincide with this news, a Blu-Ray featuring the original 25 episode run and the HD movies will be released 20th April next year costing 18,000 yen (~$148).

Finally, we're gonna see the return of the real Black Swordsman instead of that wimpy MMO playing one
