Blade and Soul licensed by Sentai Filmworks

New license alert!

It's Thursday which means that it's new license announcement day for Sentai Filmworks. I kid of course because just about every day is 'new license announcement' day for Sentai. Today though is extra special because out of all the new titles they've been picking up lately, this is easily one of the better ones in my opinion.

Announced today via press release, Sentai Filmworks has revealed that they've licensed the straight up action series Blade and Soul. The series is based on a Korean MMORPG and follows a solo warrior named Alka who is wanted for supposedly murdering her master. The truth behind the story however is that another powerful warrior is actually the one who committed the murder and Alka wants revenge.

As usual with Sentai Filmworks releases, the series will see a digital premiere soon and will be followed by a home video release at an unspecified later date.

Blade and Soul first premiered on Crunchyroll in April of this year and I had the good fortune to review the first episode. If you haven't seen it yet, I'll tell you right now that this one is worth your time in my opinion thanks to the straight up, bloody action sequences and easy to follow story. There is nothing convoluted about this one; it's a girl who wants revenge and will do anything in her power to get it while fighting off those who want to turn her in for the massive reward.

Blade and Soul is only a month old at this point so if you haven't jumped on board yet, now is a great time to get caught up and see exactly what I'm talking about. I don't know if anyone will be talking about this one by this time next year but I do know that I wish more people were watching and talking about it now.
