Catch Patlabor Reboot on Animator Expo's Website

This calls for a huge salute

Right when it seemed that the Japan Animator Expo project was finished, the group have uploaded "Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot" on their page. Thanks to this news, we can view a new take on Patlabor's concept of cops with giant robots going up against people who misuse large machines.

While I only caught the first ten or five episodes of the Patlabor TV show, the thing that got me hooked on the show was the way how the cast developed during each Labor-related case. All in all, Yasuhiro Yoshiura (Time of Eve and Patema Inverted's Director) managed to briefly show this bond between the officers present in the short. Hell, the officer piloting the labor delivered a nice line that'll touch the heart of many mecha fans, such as myself. Also, Megumi Hayashibara (Lost Universe's Canal, the Slayers series' Lina) deserves more mad props for voicing every female character in the short.

"Patlabor Reboot" made its debut during the Japan Animator Expo's theatrical screening in October. As a person that fell in love with this project, it's great that they decided to share it with on their Website, so the whole world can view it. Since the short's streaming until Feb. 28, 2017, that should give anyone enough time to catch it.
