Clannad gets its first official English release next week

Sad Girls on Steam

If you told me even three or four years ago that visual novels would be one of the fastest-growing game genres in 2015, I'd have laughed in your face. But you'd have been right: Ever since it came out that people would be willing to pay for that sort of thing on PC, there's been an explosion of development, both among original English-language projects and smaller outfits localizing Japanese titles.

Sekai Project's one of those outfits, and they've gotten ahold of none other than CLANNAD, one of the big daddies of the genre. Written by Jun Maeda and developed by Key, CLANNAD made waves more than a decade ago, and went on to spawn spin-offs, multiple anime and manga adapations, and an undying fandom.

In case you haven't gotten your fill of it yet, Sekai Project are almost done with the game close to a year after their original announcement (and successful Kickstarter campaign). Fans will be able to get their hands on the game via Steam next week, on November 23rd, 2015.  It's been a long time coming, but it's finally happening!
