Crunchyroll to stream Captain Earth

Feels like déjà vu

Crunchyroll will be adding Captain Earth to its growing list of anime set to stream this season. The series will premiere at 11:00 AM PDT on April 5th for premium members, with episodes available for free users a week after air. This series is just one of several being produced by Bones this season, along with Soul Eater Not! and Hitsugi no Chaika. Unlike those others however, you can expect plenty of giant robots -- not that it'll make the series any more bearable for most.

It's just that the plot seems awfully familiar. A high school student stumbles across a mech, making him the only pilot who can save earth from an invader -- not exactly the most original premise. Fortunately they've left plenty of room to grow. Perhaps by the end, it'll be a completely different show. Until then, all we can do is sigh and hope it's as good as it looks. If not, we can always wait for Knights of Sidonia finds its way to Netflix.
