Japan discovers a way to get me into giant robots

I've never been one for giant robot/mecha anime. There are some notable exceptions to that but generally if a series has giant robots in it I tend to tune out and get bored very quickly. Finally though Japan has created a super robot series that appeals to me. Something that is suited to my tastes and gets me excited to watch it. How did they manage this monumental feat? Simple! They turned famous giant robots from history into moe girls. Problem solved!

Premiering earlier this month, Robot Girls Z takes some of the most famous giant robots created by Toei in anime history (Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and UFO Robot Grendizer to be specific) and turns them into moe girls who are out to defend their city and photon power from those dastardly villains who seek to steal it for themselves.

When I saw this series earlier this month, I was hooked. Every episode is filled with hilarity and over the top action that will please old school fans who remember the original series fondly and new school fans who just want cute girls and explosions.

The series will premiere on Crunchyroll at an unspecified later date and will be available to audiences in the following territories: North America, South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Scandinavia.
