Discotek licenses Space Adventure Cobra movie for the US

Yesterday, North American anime distributor Discotek announced that it had acquired the rights to Space Adventure Cobra - The Movie, the original anime adaptation of the 1978 manga of the same name. The 1982 movie spawned a 31-episode anime series the same year, a series of OVAs in 2008 and 2009, and a 13-episode remake in 2010 called Cobra the Animation.

Discotek plans to release Space Adventure Cobra - The Movie on DVD in August, both subbed and dubbed. For those who are picky about their dubs, the version they're including is the Streamline dub, but they are working to get the Manga UK dub that featured music from Yello.

Space Adventure Cobra was way before my time, so I have no feelings about this licensing, but are there any readers who watched an earlier release of the movie? If so, I wonder if anyone will attest to this version being better than the more modern adaptation.
