Discotek Media licenses Super Dimension Century Orguss

Gimmie all those obscure 80's robots

Continuing in their bid to license and/or rescue all the awesome old properties, Discotek Media will release Super Dimension Century Orguss sometime next year. All 35 episodes will be available with the Japanese language track and English subtitles, but what's interesting is that the first 17 episodes will have the U.S. Renditions English dub as well. Nothing else was said about a precise release date or format, as Orguss got a Blu-ray remaster last year, but we'll let you know when there's more information.

Orguss has been on my list of old mecha shows to watch for a while now. Besides a strange story involving a space/time bomb that messes up reality and dimensions, it's got character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto. You know, the character designer behind the original Macross, Gunbuster, Megazone 23, really famous stuff like that. I'll give anything that he's had some involvement in a chance. Anybody else excited for Orguss?
