Dragon Ball Super Movie 'Broly' Coming Out in January 2019 in North America

The latest Dragon Ball Super movie has been a hot topic as of late as the movie title as well as the first promotional poster was revealed. Dragon Ball Super Broly, which is the first Dragon Ball Super movie and the twentieth Dragon Ball movie will bring back the popular movie character Broly, as the title of the movie suggests. While Broly is a very popular character, he's also a very disliked character by many as well, so the direction of the movie was questioned. However, thankfully Akira Toriyama confirmed that the character will be rebooted for this movie, bringing back hope to the Broly nay-sayers while still pleasing Broly's fans.

FUNimation has confirmed today that they have acquired the rights to the movie and will be releasing in the US and Canada in January 2019. The theatrical dates for the film’s run will be announced later. As part of its distribution agreement with producer Toei Animation and the film’s international distributor Twentieth Century Fox, Funimation also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film.

Additionally, as part of the theatrical marketing plan for the movie, Funimation has joined as a sponsor of the 'Dragon Ball North America Tour 2018'.  The tour, which was announced by Bandai Collectibles earlier this year, will encompass a total of seven cities in the U.S. and Canada and will launch this July at San Diego Comic-Con with a special panel on July 19th that features key contributors to the film as well as celebrity fans.
