FFXIII retrospective trailer goes full retro

Reaching way back

As the North American and European street dates for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII approach, Square Enix has helpfully released a retrospective trailer that goes through a highlight reel of the events of FFXIII and FFXIII-2, followed by a little teaser at the end for the new game.

The cool thing about this trailer is that the first two segments are presented in the retro 16-bit style, complete with chiptunes. It only clocks up to just under eight minutes in length, so really all drama and nuance is lost. But it's a cohesive (and condensed) look at what's happened in the series and where things stand now. If you've played the games, it'll jog your memory. If you haven't, it'll prepare you a bit for the new game by illustrating what came before. LRFFXIII releases February 11th in North America and on the 14th in Europe.

I'm still pretty excited to play the upcoming game, and watching this trailer certainly brought back some memories. Haters: talk to the hand 'cause my face ain't listenin'.
