Final Fantasy XII HD remake all but confirmed by strategy guides

Thanks, Prima?

If you told me last year, when I bought my PS4, that a goodly number of the titles I'd be hearing about in the coming years would be ones from the previous generations, I wouldn't have believed you. Alas, I would've been wrong, because here's yet more news about a newly remastered old-gen game, and no one's even surprised anymore.

That said, hey, it's Final Fantasy XII this time, at least based on a slightly early reveal of Prima Games' new strategy guides. To promote a special bundle of fancy books to beat Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD with, they also revealed that the third guide in the set would be for FFXII. Square Enix themselves haven't confirmed the existence of an HD remaster, but it would be silly for Prima to go and print guides for a PS2 game and pack them in with guides for a pair of PS4/Vita games.

Honestly, though, I can't be too hard on it. Final Fantasy XII is one of my favorites of the franchise, and for a long time it was the missing piece in Square Enix's long track record of bringing mainline Final Fantasy titles to current platforms.
