Final Fantasy XIII-2 time-warps to Steam soon

Time-tripping on the machine of the future

Ever since Final Fantasy XIII hit the PC way back in the halcyon days of last month, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the rest of Square Enix's grand, ill-fated trilogy would eventually make it over as well. And now the second wave has a date attached.

Final Fantasy XIII-2, the second direct Final Fantasy sequel in series history (unless you count the Nintendo DS-based Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings), is set to arrive on personalizable computatortrons on December 11th, for the low price of  £12.99 / €15.99 / $19.99. As before, pre-orders get a discount. And for players feeling burned by the somewhat inadequate state of the XIII port (it lacked even basic graphical settings), XIII-2 will release with a fuller range of options and resolutions for gamers with decent rigs. Those same options will be patched into XIII around the same time.

While I did like Final Fantasy XIII, I never had the time to give XIII-2. The time-traveling saga of Serah and Noel didn't quite grab me as much. Based on secondhand accounts, though, I'm sure I'd have liked it if I gave it more of a chance. Maybe now will be that time.
