First look at Mass Effect anime, releasing this fall

DailyMotion was covering SXSW, where they got to talk to Justin Rojas of FUNimation about the upcoming Mass Effect anime, due sometime this fall. It's a sidestory, which makes me a little disappointed that it's not some alternate universe where the characters from the game attend Citadel High School, but I suppose you can't have everything. You can see the video below, but here's a quick summary.

The main character of Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is Ronnie from Jersey Shore James Vega, that new Mass Effect 3 squad member that no one seems to like. FUNimation has got the character designer from Eureka Seven to do the concept art, and Production I.G. is in charge of animation duties. It looks like they have some good talent attached to the project, but that doesn't always translate to the finished product. The Dragon Age anime had decent concept art, and it got ruined thanks to the decision to use horrible, poorly animated cel-shaded CGI.

On that note, Rojas also confirmed that Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 29, 2012. Oh boy.
