GDC pays touching tribute to the late Satoru Iwata

Not a dry eye in the house

One of the sadder events in recent memory for gamers was the passing of former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. Aged 55, he played a key role at Nintendo for many years, contributing to the development of games like Balloon Fight, Earthbound, and the Kirby series. As Nintendo's President,  he oversaw the debut of hardware platforms like the Nintendo DS, Wii, and Wii U, helping broaden the audience for videogames at the time. 

Last night, the 2016 Game Developer's Choice Awards paid tribute to Iwata and his legacy with a lovely animated short created by Raber Umphenour, Shawne Benson, David Hellman, and Chris Kohler.
