Gods Eater Burst gets new screens, Namco cameo overload

The sadly renamed Monster Hunter killer Gods Eater is set to hit U.S. shores on March 15th, and D3Publisher's keen on keeping us in the know about it. To that end, they sent us some sweet screenshots of Soma and Kota, two characters that you'll meet (and perhaps work with) during the single-player campaign.

Soma, who you might have seen way back when studio Ufotable animated a short prequel to the game (shown below, with subtitles) is your usual broody loner-type. Whether or not he has amnesia as of yet unconfirmed, but his God Arc weapon is named the "Buster Blade".

Kota has shorts with zippers on the end, and is largely inexperienced and carefree. Not the sort of person you'd imagine growing up in post-apocalypse world, but hey, it takes all kinds.

That aside, what's interested me more is the game's first free DLC pack coming out in Japan. It's free, and follows the traditional Namco Bandai pattern of unlocking all kinds of other Namco-related franchise goodies. This one adds character skins from Tales of Graces, God Arcs based on Soul Edge and Soul Calibur (yeah, from the fighting games), and special costumes from...Taiko Drum Master. Awesome. I can't wait to beat up giant monsters with two adorable little mascot characters on my transforming sword.

There might be a catch, though. In the US, Gods Eater Burst isn't a Namco Bandai-published game, but instead by D3Publisher. Will the big NB still allow this DLC to cross the pond? We've reached out to them for comment.
