Happily Ever After: Fairy Tail anime to end on March 30th

Woe! Woe!

[Update: Hiro Mashima has updated his twitter a couple times about good news relating to the anime, such as that it isn't necessarily the case that the anime is ending, and later, "don't stop believing." Oooo! - Kristina]

I can't say I'm an avid follower of television show ratings or anything like that, so I'm never really one to expect particular shows to gain popularity or bite the dust. Though it isn't necessarily certain whether Fairy Tail (as an anime) is seeing its end because of ratings or simply because it's caught up with the manga, The Akiba has reported and confirmed that indeed, it will air its final episode (175) on March 30th and then be over with, indefinitely.

The author of that post is optimistic that perhaps it's more of an extended break than a true end to the series, given that it caught up to the manga and it'd just be better for the show overall to come back after enough time has passed to start up with new material. I must agree, that'd be pretty rad.

Fairy Tail's slot will be filled starting April 6th with Tanken Driland

On the bright side, Hiro Mashima did hint at some "good news" that he can't talk about yet over on Twitter. We'll be sure to keep an eye out.
