Hatsune Miku collaborates with Bump of Chicken for 'Ray'

Miku jumps with Chicken Bumps.

Bump of Chicken's latest album 'Ray' released on March 12 and to promote it, a music video was released on Youtube featuring Hatsune Miku performing a variation of the song with the band.

Crypton Future Media was heavily involved in the making of the video, and boasts that the entire video is made with practical effects, meaning no CG -- no small feat when your star performer literally has no real physical form. A custom set was built, placing concentric rings of giant cylinder screens which would then be lit up by by a series of projectors. Seriously, it wouldn't look out of place in the Museum of Modern Art. Filled to the brim with new technology, gadgets, and some DIY, the final effect is very impressive.

The 'Making-of' video was a lot more fascinating to me, personally. Thoughtfully made and well-produced, it gives a lot of insight to their creative process in making the music video, as well as displaying their immense dedication and ambitious plans for their Vocaloid line.
