Holy Macaroni: Crunchyroll and FUNimation join forces

CrunchyFUNi-boiled Xtreme!

Remember that time when Crunchyroll revealed that they were entering the home release market? Well, it turns out that this was one of their plans with their new relationship with FUNimation to bring more anime to the masses. Not only that, this partnership will result in them having show's that'll appear on both platforms.

One of the beautiful things about this special bond is that the folks with a Crunchyroll subscription will have access to some of FUNi's content and vice versa. For example, the Crunchy users will get to watch stuff like D. Gray-man Hallow, Grimgar, and Cowboy Bebop. Then the FUNi people will have access to shows such as Mob Psycho 100, ReLife and Free Season 1.

Of course, both groups plan to expand the roster of shows that'll be shared between their platforms. Another cool part about this team up is that the Crunchyroll subscribers will have access to FUNimation's broadcast dubs down the road.

In regards to the home release part of their deal, FUNi will help Crunchyroll with releasing Ace Attorney, Alderamin of the Sky, Bungo Stray Dogs, Joker Game, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and ReLife. On top of that, they're also handling Crunchy's previously announced titles that are getting the physical treatment.

With all said and done, I'm surprised that this deal between Crunchyroll and FUNimation is a thing since it's something that many of us never saw coming from a mile away. One thing for sure, it's going to be interesting to see how this partnership will evolve in the weeks to come. On that note, what are your all thoughts on the two companies teaming up?
