HyperTechnology: Life-size Patlabor built for live-action

CG? What CG?

Oh, WOW. This news pretty much made my week, and it's only Monday! Eagle-eyed fans in Yokohama have spotted what looks like a life-size model of a Patlabor mecha, likely to be used for the upcoming live-action film adaptation.

Just look at it. The details are absolutely gorgeous, especially since the basic design of Patlabor's iconic AV-98 Ingram is much more detailed than your typical giant robot. From the looks of things, the Patlabor shown in the pics is probably Alphonse, the labor of series heroine Noa Izumi.

Check out more pictures in the gallery, including shots of the mecha being hoised up on a trailer, as well as what looks like a replica of the labor's command car, looking almost identical to the version in the TV anime (except it lacks the police black-and-white scheme).
