It's not anime! Gundam ZZ is now streaming on Daisuki.net

Daisuki.net has tapped into more of their Newtype powers!

It's been known for a while that Daisuki had plans to stream Gundam ZZ, since they revealed their announcement at Anime Expo 2013. With the being said, the first ten episodes of the Gundam series that supposedly claims to not be an anime has premiered on Daisuki.net today.

Based on word of mouth from a close friend of mine, I hear that Gundam ZZ is the weakest series in the Universal Century timeline, since the show's tone was very inconsistent. In regards to this inconsistency, I've heard that the show starts off as a show aimed towards younger viewers, and then the series unexpectedly shifts into a darker tone that's close to Zeta Gundam's level. Either way, this is the first time that the series is officially accessible to viewers outside of Japan, so there's hope that we will get to see more Gundam shows have that never left Japan -- such as Gundam X

For more information on Gundam ZZ, you can check out the press release below. If you're interested in watching the series, you can check out the episodes at Daisuki.net. So to those who have watched ZZ, is the series really that bad, or am I overreacting a bit?

DAISUKI.net is pleased to announce that the streaming premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ has been set for August 5, 2013.

Not only is this the streaming premiere, but it is also the worldwide English language premiere as Gundam ZZ has never before been released in English anywhere.   “We're extremely proud to release Gundam ZZ in English,” says Kunihiko Shibata, president of DAISUKI Inc., “Fans have been clamoring for Gundam ZZ for years, and this is what DAISUKI is about; giving fans what they want.” The stream will be available worldwide and will feature Japanese audio and English subtitles.  On the premiere date the first 5 episodes of the series will be streamed with more to follow on a regular basis.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the legendary creator of Mobile Suit Gundam Series, Gundam ZZ is the 1986 sequel to the popular Mobile Suit Z Gundam.  Both comedic and somber in tone, the story of focuses on the AEUG battleship Argama, commanded by the popular returning character Bright Noa.  Bright recruits the powerful teenaged Newtype Judau Ashta to pilot the new mobile suit, ZZ Gundam as well as several other teens that compromise the first ever Gundam team.  Together they battle the forces of the Neo Zeon.
