It's official, Wii production has stopped

Pour one out

After a seven-year run, production on the Wii has stopped. According to Nintendo of Japan, manufacturing has ceased on the little console that could. Hell, it ain't so bad. After all, the little bugger ended up selling over a hundred million consoles the world 'round. Not a bad run if I do say so myself.

While support for the console has been notoriously weak for the last several years, you can't ignore the Wii's legacy. It proved, for better or worse, that motion control was a somewhat viable input method for games. The Kinect wouldn't probably exist if Wii hadn't had that gangbusters launch and insane hype. The Move also wouldn't exist. Like I said, for better or worse.

The Wii also had some incredible games during its life. For me, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are still the pinnacle of 3D platforming. While I didn't play it as obsessively as Melee, Smash Bros. Brawl was still a ton of fun and got plenty of hours in my disk drive. No More Heroes was a blast. I also really liked Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, more as a new take on Silent Hill than a remake of the original. Which games did you guys dig?
