Japan's wine-filled chocolate sounds like the perfect Valentine's Day gift

I bet it tastes like heaven

It never occurred to me that chocolate and wine could go well together. Lo and behold, Hokkaido-based chocolate company Royce is releasing a treat that mixes them together.

Speaking of unexpected combos, the wine part of the candy is a pudding that's mixed with chocolate, which makes it an interesting concept. There are two layers to this filling, with the top being San Giorgio Rosso Del Umbria red wine and the bottom is Austrian Nieusiedlerssee Trocken Beeren Auslese white wine. The other nice part is that it has noble rot. In other words, they aren't playing around with this flavor.

The chocolate is a limited item that's sold for ¥3,294 (around U.S. $29.98), and it comes with two spoons. I guess Royce made sure that this delicacy is meant to be shared between people who care for each other.

At first, this sounds like it's too pricey, but wine pudding's quality might justify the cost. One thing for sure, the idea sounds perfect for any couple who want to try this delicacy. Seeing that Royce sells special chocolates during this period, this might be a one-time treat, so those in Japan may want to pick it up before it vanishes from the shelf.
