Japanator Live: Let's try out the Steam version of Steins;Gate

So MAGES released Steins;Gate on Steam yesterday, which means that we're going to take the game for a spin tonight. Since Former Japanator Community Manager Brittany Vincent reviewed the game when JAST USA released it in 2014, this segment will mostly focus on me continuing my quest to see how well the Future Gadget Lab's ordeals hold up on Steam.

Based on my time with the game, it runs fine on Steam. There weren't any random crashes or anything out of the ordinary. That being said, I'm certain that this segment won't be hindered by any organizations who plan to turn people's time with Steins;Gate's Steam version into a disaster.

So far, my minor issue with Steins;Gate's Steam version is that the font for its text lacks the smooth design of the one that was used in JAST USA's release of the title. Hell, the former's text lacks that feel that complements huke's art and the game's background illustrations. Nonetheless, this isn't something that'll ruin one's time with the visual novel.

With the game including its own set of Steam cards and achievements, folks who haven't hopped on the Steins;Gate bandwagon might want to give this version a go-- as long as they don't mind the title's weak text font designs.

Seeing that Steins;Gate 0 hits the West this year for the PS4 and Vita, the timing of the first game's Steam release worked out nicely in helping more folks prepare for this upcoming release.
