Japanator Unboxing: Tokyo Treat - June 2017

Rainy Day Munching

[TokyoTreat provided a Premium box and the writer has an affiliate partnership with TokyoTreat]

TokyoTreat once again provides us with some snackage and sweets to satisfy our cravings for some Japanese treats. This time, we're checking out the June 2017 Premium box to sample the kind of products TokyoTreat features in their service. Each month's TokyoTreat box will have a theme that ties into the featured items and June 2017's theme is all about Rainy Day Snacks. June is the start of when the rainy season starts in that side of the world and TokyoTreat put together a nice selection for those days when you stay in and chill at home.

As always, the Premium tier TokyoTreat box puts together a nice selection of sweet and savory snacks. Some even blend the two tastes for a rather unique blend, such as the "Black Thunder Kaki no Tane" which is one of those small seasoned savory Japanese rice cracker snacks inside a chocolate candy bar that just brings in a surprising taste sensation with the sweet and then spicy savory flavor in every bite.

For those with a sweet tooth, the Sakura Kinako KitKats are another one of those exclusive Japanese KitKat flavors that is just very difficult to get in stores in the western hemisphere. The Sakura Kinako KitKats brings together that cherry blossom (which usually are a blend of red and pink fruit flavors) and nutty kinako (roasted soybean powder).

TokyoTreat also now has a dagashi pack included in all tiers and has some small packs of sweet and savory snacks. It also includes one Umaibo, which literally translates to "Delicious Stick" and is a corn puff stick that can be either sweet or savory in flavor. Check out the video above for a more comprehensive look at the items in the box.

The Premium TokyoTreat box has goodies not in the Small and Regular boxes; such as a drink, a DIY candy, and a collectible. The June 2017 Premium box provides a 'Tropicana Sakura Peach Taste' which blends different fruits such as apple, cranberry, and raspberry with a fragrant sakura cherry blossom scent for a very fragrant refreshment. The DIY candy is 'Shinchan Puri Puri pudding 5' which is a jelly pudding styled dessert that involves mixing and microwaving the mixture, and then set into a mold. This DIY styled dessert is kid-friendly (with help from a grownup) that can provide an educational experience for the little ones. The collectible item is a One Piece multicolor pen, which has four colors and has a handy strap.

The June 2017 TokyoTreat was another good collection of snacks and sweets, and as someone who likes to eat Japanese snacks and sweets, I am currently enjoying the selection and look forward to the next one. I hope y'all try out their service for yourselves and see if it is right for you! Check out the video above if you haven't yet for a more comprehensive video.
