Japanese IKEA features goth-lolita and otaku model rooms

I'm sometimes sad that there isn't an IKEA nearby for me to shop at - the closest one is across the Canadian border, so we rarely go. But if you've never been to the land where the furniture folds to a much smaller size, you don't know how wonderous it is. They sell things for apartments smaller than mine, as if there were apartments smaller than mine. I mean, everyone has a home, and if you don't have a home you can buy one there. And don't get me started on the Swedish meatballs - tasty!

Seems one Japanese IKEA has some special model rooms, though. One of them appeals to gothic-lolitas, with lots of pink and black, and frilly innocent looking things all over. I wonder why I never saw specialized rooms like this the couple of times I visited one in Canada? If they're willing to appeal to picky gothic-lolitas, then surely we'd have seen some plain goth rooms over here, or maybe a DIY-but-not-really punk style room.

Hit the jump to see a detail shot, as well as a special model room catering to otaku.

And here is the model room for otaku:

Note the bookshelf full of various manga like Gantz and fabric art squares depicting Godzilla destroying a city and a generic anime girl. Below is, strangely, a highlight of another shelf displaying a framed Boy's Love manga. I wonder how many people they draw in with a room like this? Might someone not consider themselves a "true" otaku unless they had a room like the one on offer at IKEA?
