Japanese version of Harry Potter theme park opens in July

Get your wands and owls ready!

Come July 15, Harry Potter fans in Japan will be getting their own version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Announced on April 18 in Osaka, the Japanese version of Universal Studios will be opening their Harry Potter land for mass consumption, making their projected date of late-2014. The area will have Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade and several additional unnamed attractions. To celebrate, there were several VIPs in attendance for the announcement, including Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy and Evanna Lynch, the actress who played Luna Lovegood.

Having been to the Orlando version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I can tell you that it's pretty rad. If you loved the books or the movie, I definitely recommend hitting up the park at some point. Thinking about what else they could add to the Japanese version of the park, I hope they make the Triwizard Cup roller coaster. Granted, the Orlando version of the ride was repurposed from the Dueling Dragons coaster, but it'd be sad for Japanese fans to miss out on a sweet experience.
