Japaneseclass.jp gets some Facebook goodness

0

One of my new pursuits, integrated as part of my program to Learn Japanese the Baka Way, is to use japaneseclass.jp to review Kanji, vocabulary and grammar. The site proposes to make learning Japanese into an RPG-styled game, which doesn't quite work; all that really happens is you get EXP for each right answer. Beyond the EXP-gaining, there's very little in the way of RPG fun. However, I still get a kick out of merely trying to reach level 2, and the quizzing is definitely useful. It's kind of like My Japanese Coach for the DS, only...fifteen times better.

Fortunately, the folks behind the JCJP are continually making improvements, meaning I might just get my full-fledged Japanese-learning RPG someday- complete with fantasy weapons like the Great Crescent Axe of Irregular Verb Conjugation, perhaps. The newest improvement allows you to synchronize your Japanese Class account with your Facebook account, meaning that you can see your friends' scores while you 'level', and presumably try to beat them. I wouldn't know, because even though I did the whole Facebook synchro-thing, none of my stupid friends are signed up for JCJP yet. Meanies- don't you care about my motivation level????

See, what they really need to do is get the people behind some of those ultra-addictive Facebook games working on Japaneseclass.jp; if they gave it the full Castle Age treatment, I'd be fluent in Japanese before the spring anime season started.
