Kodansha makes three big announcements

Attack on Titan, Noragami and more!

On their official tumblr (is that where all the cool kids are hanging out these days? I wouldn't know), Kodansha Comics made three big announcements this week including two new licenses and the reveal of a brand new omnibus release. Ready to find out what they all are? Let's start with the new licenses!

First off, Noragami. While I didn't enjoy the anime adaptation that premiered earlier this year, apparently there are enough fans out there of the manga series to warrant the manga being picked up. The first volume will hit store shelves in the fall of this year. Kodansha describes the story as...

Yato is a stray god. He doesn’t even have a shrine, not to mention worshipers! Hoping he’ll eventually raise enough money to build himself the lavish temple of his dreams, Yato accepts all kinds of jobs. Of course, he can’t afford to be picky; from finding lost kittens to helping a student overcome bullies, no job is too small for Yato, the god-for-hire! An eccentric story with a charming cast of characters!

The second license announcement to hit the interwebs from Kodansha is one that I'm not really familiar with but it sounds interesting none the less: Manga Dogs. Apparently this is a satire of the manga industry and, like Noragami, will be hitting store shelves this fall.

Kanna Tezuka is a serious 15-year-old manga artist, already being published as a pro. So when she finds out her high school is starting a manga drawing course, even she gets excited. But it’s a fiasco! The teacher is useless, and the only other students — three pretty-boy artist wannabes — quickly adopt Kanna as their (unwilling) sensei. But they all have ridiculous delusions about being an artist, and if Kanna can’t bring them back down to Earth, she’ll never get any work done!

Finally we come to the big announcement, the one that everyone has been waiting for and should already know is coming if they have a shred of deductive reasoning... Attack on Titan is going to be released in omnibus format on May 27th! The colossal edition will include the first five volumes of the manga making it a nice, thick, heavy read (or a weapon to throw at the head of any stray titans who might be chasing after you) with around 1,000 pages of titan goodness for the reasonable price of $59.99! Oh my!

I admit that I've yet to catch titan fever (I'm sure that I will once it is released on DVD later this year!) but even I am drooling over this release.

Are you looking forward to any of these titles? I think Manga Dogs sounds like it will be right up my alley so I'm already excited about that but what about you? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
