Konami's getting its anime all up in your PlayStation

0

It might sound counter-intuitive, but in Japan, there's actually not that much anime available on Sony's PlayStation Network video store, especially compared to what you can find on the North American or European PSN versions. It might be related to the way anime is viewed and distributed in Glorious Nippon (versus overseas), but it still seems kind of backward, especially for a country with some of the world's fastest internet.

Thankfully, Konami's set on rectifying that situation, as it's opening its own storefront on Japan's PSN store, this time based around their core franchises. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners will be able to rent episodes of their favorite Konami-published TV series and OVAs soon, for about 250-300 yen ($3.50) per episode. Sounds kind of steep for a rental, but that's Japanese prices for you.

The first series to be offered once the storefront opens will be Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~, eventually stretching to other franchises such as Fairy Musketeers, Saint October, and the mecha-musume Strike-Witches-clone SkyGirls (or was it SkyGirls that came first?).

In any case, the only title I care about on the lineup so far is Quiz Magic Academy, and even then I don't know anything about that show besides the video you can see below.

See anything you'd like on there?
