Licensing GET: Discotek grabs Jigen film, Yowapeda, and more

Discotek Media is on a roll

The New Year is about to begin in less than two weeks, and Discotek Media is on a winning licensing streak. Why you say? Well. It turns out that the company is releasing Lupin the Third: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone on DVD and Blu-ray. Not only that, the film's getting an English dub. Since they said that the dub was going to be "new," there's a good chance that it'll be different from FUNimation's dub of  Lupin the Third: The Woman called Fujiko Mine. Of course, the option to watch the film in Japanese is included in the package.

Next up, Yowamushi Pedal's first series and Grande Road are getting picked up as well; however, the release will only be in Japanese with English subs. Since I heard that it was a fun anime about bicycle racing, I'm happy to see that people'll get to add it to their collection soon.

If you've been in the mood for more Go Nagai-related shows, it turns out that Go Nagai World, which happens to be the series that features chibi versions of the guy's characters from titles like Mazinger Z, Violence Jack, Jeeg, and Devilman. In a way, seemed that Discotek read my mind, since this was a series that I've been curious about for a good while. Just like Yowapeda, Go Nagai World won't come with an English dub.

Speaking of shows that I've been interested in, Discotek grabbed Iria: Zeiram the Animation, the anime prequel OVA to Keita Amemiya's (Garo's Director and creator) Zeiram movie series, which will feature the show's dub from the previous release. Of course, their version will let people switch to the Japanese voices as well.

Last but not least, Toei's take on Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid story's being rescued from the ocean's shadowy depths. Since Discotek plans to include the film's dub and Japanese audio in the release, there's a good chance that it'll be uncut, since the company owns the Japanese Masters of the movie.

Once again, Discotek Media has done a find job with their announcements, since we're getting some more great releases from them. That being said, 2015 is looking to be a great year, which means that my excitement for the New Year has increased. On that note, are any of you excited for Discotek's new acquisitions?
