Licensing GET: Discotek grabs Shin Mazinger Z Impact

Discotek Media is on a roll

Today is a joyous day for Go Nagai and super robot anime fans everywhere. Discotek Media has announced on their Facebook page that they've licensed Shin Mazinger Z Impact (a.k.a. Shin Mazinger: Shogeki Z-Hen!).

As a person who's been waiting for this announcement for ages, I'm finally happy that I'll get to own Shin Mazinger, since Yasuhiro Imagawa (G-Gundam and Giant Robo's director) did a phenomenal job in turning the series into a giant homage to Go Nagai. Also, it's hard to not love a show that features over-the-top robot action and characters that are powerful enough to take down giant machines. In other words, if you loved G-Gundam, then you'll most likely enjoy Shin Mazinger as well.

As for Shin Mazinger Z Impact's release date, Discotek is shooting for 2015, so be on the look out for Discotek's next update on Shin Mazinger. Unfortunately, Shin Mazinger's only getting a DVD release; however, it's better than nothing, so we should be grateful that the 2009 Mazinger series is coming to North America.

Since this is a big event, let's celebrate Discotek Media's acquisition of Shin Mazinger Z Impact with a video of the show's two opening themes. To everyone one here, do any of you plan to pick up Shin Mazinger Z Impact next year?
