Licensing Impact! FUNimation grabs Evangelion 3.0

Begin the rejoicing and raging!

It's no surprise that FUNimation's going to pick up Eva 3.0, and they have picked a fine occasion to do so. No, I'm not talking about E3, but I might as well be. Back to the main topic at hand, FUNi's announcement was meant to coincide with the fact that they reached 1 million Likes on their Facebook page.

Even though FUNi's action was inevitable, the timing was perfect, since they could have saved the news for one of the upcoming anime conventions. For now, FUNi has only announced the acquisition of the movie, but I''m going to assume that it will get the usual treatment that the previous Eva films received.

As for where I stand with the third movie? Let's just say that I agree with Elliot's views on the movie. Sure, the story could've taken a different direction if a certain group of people wouldn't have flipped out on a certain someone. When you look at the big picture, the early chain of events left a huge mark on many individuals in the story. Either way, the final movie will be the deciding factor on how the Rebuild ends up, so there's a chance that it will shed more light on the events setup by the third movie.

Moving right along, I guess it's about time that I pick up the previous Rebuild movies on Blu-ray, since I haven't gotten around to that yet, so that I could add the third film to my collection when it comes out. So until then, I will patiently wait for FUNi's next impact.
