Madman kills Kill la Kill simulcast due to leak

Latest episode of Trigger's hit show sneaks out hours early.

Bad news for Australian anime fans: Madman Entertainment has canceled their simulcast of Kill la Kill. Why, you might ask? It seems that the latest episode came out a little earlier than it was supposed to, which had Aniplex hot on their heels. The simulcast has since been halted and all prior episodes of Kill la Kill were removed from the site. Talk about massively disappointing!

No matter whether this was Madman not securing the files on their server properly (thus allowing people to grab it early) or simply someone on the inside making a mistake, it's a frustrating reaction. Now, viewers in New Zealand and Australia will be watching via American VPNs/proxies or torrents, rather than official channels. Despite mistakes made, it simply seems a smarter move to leave the stream going than to remove the option altogether, as though to slap bad users' wrists and punish them. It'd be nice if Japanese anime companies started to learn a bit more about the internet than recoil in the same fashion they've done before.

Although Madman still needs to lock their servers up.
