Madoka enters a new contract by becoming a PS Vita game

Social segments and 3D action gameplay unite to make you suffer.

[Update: It turns out that Famitsu made an error in their coverage about Battle Pentagram, and the game is actually going to be for the Vita instead. Also, some new scans have been added.]

Madoka Magica The Movie III: Rebellion hasn't arrived in theaters yet, and Namco Bandai has gotten Kyubey to sign up with them to create Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram for the PS Vita! Unlike the last game, this new game will be a 3D action game where you'll get to fight witches as Madoka, Homura, Mami, Sakaya, and Kyoko.

The game is going to be developed by Artdink (Dragonball Z: Battle of Z, Macross Ultimate Frontier), and the game will be split into two segments. For the daytime segment, players will get to interact the main cast, which will play an important role in raising their bonds. When the nighttime enters the scene, that's when you'll get to battle the Witches during the game's action segments.

In a way, it sounds like Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram is taking some notes from Persona 3 and 4 in regards to the social segments, since the strength of the bonds will affect the battles as well. That said, I hope that they implement a permanent death system, so that we can relive the pain and agony that comes from being a Puella Magi. With Magical Quartet supervising the game's story, we can hope that Battle Pentagram will deliver a tale that gives us the same vibes as the original anime series and films.

Before I forget the most important piece of the Soul Gem, the game will be out in Japan during the Winter of 2013. While I'm a little curious about the game, I will refrain from accepting Kyubey's contract until I see some actual gameplay. Until then, you can check out the scans that feature a few images from the game below.
