Manga is dead! Long live anime!

"I think it's basically over in Japan for the moment...If you’re big in manga, you should be looking elsewhere, because it’s going south."

These are the words of wisdom from Al Kahn Chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment. Now, I know I've only grabbed the beginning and ends of his big quote, but still. I mean, manga represents a huge portion of all the printed works in Japan -- I once heard as high as 50%. I guess this is what happens when you get into a fight with a manga publisher -- immediately attack their industry as failing, even though 4Kids does no work in manga.

This all took place at the ICv2 pre-conference yesterday, as a part of the big ol' New York Anime Festival. If you're attending, be sure to stalk Gia and buy her expensive yaoi, and say hello to Adam from theOtaku and check out their site teaser later today. I hope you all have fun down there, and that New York gets a freak blizzard that completely misses Syracuse!

[Thanks to Gia for providing the "lulz," and for saving me a bunch of money on my car insurance.]
