Maximize your body temperature with nine minutes of Super Robot Wars V

There's no stopping this heat

Ever since the Playstation 4 came into existence, I was waiting for the day that we would get a crossover Super Robot Wars title on the system. As Bandai Namco reveals Super Robot Wars V as the second game in the series to commemorate the franchise's 25th anniversary, it seems that my dream has come true since the title is being made for the PS4 and Vita.

To accompany this joyous announcement, the folks at Bandai Namco have uploaded a nine-minute trailer of the game that covers the series that are appearing in V. The highlight of the video for me was seeing the Crossbone Gundam manga making its return to the series. With Skull Heart and Steel Seven making their debut in the series, we'll finally get to see the Crossbone Gundam X-1 Full Cloth in a Super Robot Wars title.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Super Robot Wars V is that Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is joining the game's roster since the series doesn't feature giant robots or power suits. Then we have Shin Mazinger Zero vs. The Great General of Darkness and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash entering the fray as two more manga titles that are joining the series for the first time.

Since Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact and Char's Counterattack are returning, their presence will definitely complement the two newcomers I mentioned in the previous paragraph.

For the last set of newcomers, Cross Ange and Brave Express Might Gaine are making an appearance in V. While I haven't gotten the chance to watch those two shows, I'm glad that another title from the Brave franchise is joining Super Robot Wars. If anything, it might increase my hopes of seeing an installment where all of the Brave robots are in one title. That way, we can see GaoGaiGar team up with its predecessors.

As for the rest of the titles that are returning, Zambot 3, Daitarn 3, Getter Robo Armageddon, Zeta Gundam, the Full Metal Panic! series (unadapted light novel content included), the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, Gundam SEED DestinyGundam UC and Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer are making another comeback, with ZZ Gundam and Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness finally appearing as HD sprites.

While most of the returning units made an appearance in the final installment of the Super Robot Wars Z series, I'm still glad that a couple units from manga are getting some love. Sure, the sprites aren't too different from Z3, but they still look fine.

Super Robot Wars V hits Japan and Asia in 2017. The best part of this news is that the latter is getting an English translation. In other words, history has been made again and it's time for us to celebrate in the most hot-blooded way possible.

On that note, is anyone looking forward to playing Super Robot Wars V in English?
