Monsterpalooza '17 adds Garo Creator Keita Amemiya and Godzilla Suit Actor Mizuho Yoshida

Large monsters and late night toku unite

When it comes to monsters designs in live-action titles, I've always been fascinated with the concept of creating creature costumes and makeup effects. Of course, this is one of the various reasons why I was drawn into becoming a fan of the tokusatsu medium. This factor plays a role in me being excited about Keita Amemiya (Garo franchise's Showrunner, Chojin Sentai Jetman's Director) and Mizuho Yoshida (Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack's Godzilla Suit Actor, Gamera 2: Attack of Legion's Legion Suit Actor) attending the monster design-themed convention, Monsterpalooza.

One of the things that made this announcement interesting is that Amemiya and Yoshida were involved with the Zeiram movie series since the former was the Director and the latter wore the Zeiram costume. In a way, their appearance at this year's Monsterpalooza serves as a nice reunion for the two toku industry guys. At the same time, it coincides with the original Garo TV show's upcoming release in North America.

As a reminder, Monsterpalooza '17 starts on April 7 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, Calif., and it will run until April 9. Is anyone looking forward to meeting Amemiya and/or Yoshida?
