New Final Fantasy Type-0 spin-off manga about Kurasame

Looks like Square Enix isn't done with Final Fantasy Type-0 just yet. Following last year's manga adaptation of the game, artist Takatoshi Shiozawa will be putting the story together under the supervision of Tetsuya Nomura. Final Fantasy Type-0 Gaiden: Hyouken no Shinigami follows the tale of Class 0 instructor Kurasame. For those of you unaware, Kurasame wears a mask to hide his mouth and jaw which were damaged when he was a foot soldier. He wields a burly sword and can frequently be found chilling with his tonberry friend.

While Kurasame plays a pretty large role in Type-0, that didn't stop me from wanting to delve deeper into his character. His backstory was interesting and I had hoped that the game would explore his past in a little bit more detail than it actually did. I'm content with letting the manga fill that roll.

Check out a preview of the new series over at Shounen Gangan's Official Site.
