Nylon Pink covers Real Emotion from FFX-2

What can I do for you?

Just in time to get us pumped for the upcoming release of FFX/FFX-2 HD Remaster, Los Angeles-based band Nylon Pink has recorded a pretty spiffy cover of Real Emotion. Remember that part at the beginning of X-2 where Yuna comes out in a blue dress and keeps asking "What can I do for you? What can I do for you?" and we were all like, "Why is Yuna is a singer now? Did Spira run out of monsters to beat up?" Well, that's Real Emotion, and the ladies cover it pretty darn well.

That said, I'm not sure if I prefer the cover to the original song. Nylon Pink made it less Jpop and more hard rock, which I like in theory, but maybe takes away a bit of the track's sparkle. They put distortion on the "What can I do for you?" vocals and kind of buried them in the mix a little bit, and I found I was missing that part of the song a bit as I was watching. Still, they look amazing and make me wish I could start my own awesome all-girl band. Nylon Pink: the guys want them, the gals want to be them.

You know what? What the hell, why don't I just start my own all-girl band? No one can stop me! We'll be called, um, Jtor FM and perform my cover of fripside's Only My Railgun called "Only my Fruitbowl," and I'll work on my range so I can actually sing Eyes on Me from Final Fantasy VIII the way I do in the shower, only without going into falsetto. Then we can travel to anime cons and perform for crowds of adoring otaku, just like Nylon Pink! Hmm, I think I need more than one girl for this plan though. Brittany, a little help here? Tim's a boy, but I hear he knows about music so maybe he can be a producer. Or lug speakers around or something.

Oh wait, you want to learn more about an actual rock band as opposed to fictional bands that exist only in my mind? Pfft, joykillers. For more info on Nylon Pink, visit the group's Facebook page. They've also been known to pop up at anime conventions from time to time, so watch out for some talented folks rocking out to Final Fantasy at a con near you.
