Ole: Shout! Factory grabs Ohranger

The Machine Empire is going down

Don't you love it when your prediction comes true? In this case, I had a hunch that Shout! Factory was going to give us a special surprise during their Dairanger stream. Lo and behold, it turns out that their next Sentai DVD set release is Choriki Sentai Ohranger, the show where Power Rangers Zeo got its action footage from.

Compare to its Power Rangers counterpart, the 1995 Sentai series' team are part of an air force unit that technology uses an energy source that was made by an ancient civilization to combat the Machine Empire Baranoia.

Another key difference was that the show's sixth Ranger was part of the same lost race that created the team's energy source, along with being the person who stopped the Machine Empire's leader when after the robot turned on its creators.

Based on what I saw from the Ohranger episode in the Pirate-themed Sentai Series Gokaiger, I'm looking forward to seeing how the team will utilize the term "Ole," along with experiencing their take on the ancient civilizations motif.

Perhaps the best news is that Ohranger hits North America in November, which means that Shout! Factory might be starting a trend of releasing two Sentai box sets a year.

With Comic-Con around the corner, the chances of them announcing Carranger are pretty high-- assuming that their Sentai releases are meeting their sales expectations. To continue my little tradition, let's have a celebration with Ohranger's opening.
