Otakon '13: Shinichiro Watanabe unveils his new series

Winter 2014 is going to rock!

[Update: Jeff's recording of the Space Dandy trailer has been added to the post.]

I knew that it was a great sign when Shinichiro Watanabe decided to appear at Otakon, and what perfect way to do so by revealing his newest project to the masses! This new series will be known as Space Dandy, and it will be Watanabe first comedy series. Best of all, the man himself says that the series will be like watching the Mushroom Samba episode of Cowboy Bebop every week!

Other than that, the series is about an alien hunter known as Dandy, and he's accompanied by a robot partner that goes by the name of QT. Also, both characters will be exploring a huge universe, so we might get some amazing world building elements when the series airs in Japan during January of next year. Best of all, the team is working to get the show sold to a US company!

I don't know about you, but this might be the new to end all news for Otakon 20. Then again, there's still Sunday, so the ultimate announcement could unfold later on. As you continue with your rejoice over Watanabe's upcoming creation, you can check out the photos that Jeff took during the panel in the gallery below.
