Otakon '14: MangaGamer grabs eden*, euphoria, and more

MangaGamer has a few new tricks up their sleeve

As Otakon 2014 continues to invade Baltimore's region, MangaGamer's ready to reveals their latest acquisitions. This time around, the company's working on a goal that'll please many visual novel fans if everything goes according to plan. Before we reveal MangaGamer's new strategy, the group is planning to localize eden*, a VN title about a soldier named  Ryou, whose mission is to guard a genetically modified girl from the dangers present in a ruined Earth. During the character's mission, Ryou's living in a research facility where he'll encounter a few peculiar characters as well.

MangaGamer'll release minori's title as eden* and eden* plus mosaic, with the latter being the version that features sex and more blood. Of course, the former is the all-ages version, which means that the game'll be accessible to various individuals.

Speaking of all-ages titles, MangaGamer's next announced game is The House in Fate Morgana by Novectacle, which has a ominous Gothic feel. Based on the title's trailer, Morgana sounds like it'll pit people against different curses present in the house that you'll be spending your playthrough in. On top of that, MangaGamer is doing their best to get the game on Steam, so let's wish them the best of luck in making their goal a reality.

While we're on the topic of dark stories, it turns out that MangaGamer has acquired Clock Up!'s thriller visual novel title known as euphoria. In case you haven't hear of the game, euphoria places the player in a game where they're forced to have to have sex with the girls that are involved in the event. Since this title is supposed to have some psychological elements, any participant who fails or refuses to do their task will be terminated at once.

To those of you who can't stand seeing mosaics in eroge titles, MangaGamer's euphoria release'll be fully uncensored. On top of that, the game's in HD, so you'll be able to experience euphoria's artwork at a higher quality than before.

Now that we're finished with revealing MangaGamer's major acquisitions, it's time to reveal their master plan. Remember when we talked about the company's plan to release an all-ages version of eden*? Well, MangaGamer's going to release the game on Steam, and they're hoping to make around $100,000 from the Steam sales. If MangaGamer succeeds, then they'll use the Steam profits to localize Supipara, a game that shows off minori's full potential as a visual novel development team. Of course, their goal also involves bringing the game to Steam as well.

But that's not all, folks. If everything goes according to MangaGamer's plan, the team plans to the money that they earn from eden* and Supipara to help fund minori's goal to continue the Supipara series. Since this is very noble act, let's wish MangaGamer the best in making their dream a reality, as it'll benefit minori in the long run.

Anyway, Supipara's first chapter, Supipara -Alice the Magical Conductor, involves Yukinari becoming an action committee member that's part of his school's beauty contest after he moved back to his hometown. Since the game features a positive atmosphere, minori took the time to animate the game's various character portraits to add some life to Supipara. Also, Yukinari encounters a real witch in his adventures, so you can count on having a magically good time.

Last on MangaGamer's agenda, Chou Dengeki Stryker is getting adapted into a Steam release in the form of an all-ages title; thus increasing Steam's visual novel count. On top of that, Chou Dengeki Stryker's physical release hits MangaGamer's Website in September. Of course this version is the original uncut title, as the removed content is exclusive to the Steam release.

Once again, MangaGamer managed to hit a home-run with their series of visual novel-related announcements. In regards to the titles that I'm interested in, minori's two titles intrigue me a bit. Since I enjoy post apocalyptic stores and comfort food tales, it's nice to see that MangaGamer's ultimate goal is connected to these two series. Hopefully, Supipara'll go west, as it'll act as the first stepping stones towards a new age for visual novel games if MangaGamer's vision comes true. Until then, you can take a look at some images from eden*, Morgana, euphoria, and Supipara in the gallery below.

Now that we're fully done with MangaGamer's announcements, are any of you excited for their upcoming releases?
