Otakon 2014 charms Baltimore this weekend

Yoshiki, ALTIMA, Katabuchi, CIA, Hayami, Sailor Mooooooon

The biggest East Coast anime con, Otakon, happens this weekend. It'll be, for once, not deathly hot and humid in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, perhaps, but the weather wasn't ever going to stop anyone.

As per usual a lot of guests are marching down to Charm City this weekend. The biggest music acts this year will be Yoshiki and his X-Japan guys, throwing a party and with Yoshiki at the keyboard on Sunday afternoon. Anison group ALTIMA will drop by Friday as the trio Motsu (rapper from MOVE), Sats (Fripside) and Maon Kurosaki will play at night. It's worth also noting that the Thursday Matsuri will feature a bunch of free concerts, capping with Peelander Z.

Viz, as per AX, is doing another Sailor Moon thing again, but with more dubs. Aniplex marches the Kill la Kill voice over team as proper guests this time. Mappa's Maruyama will join other animators Sunao Katabuchi and Hidenori Matsubara to talk shop about their works, may it be Mai Mai Miracle, Black Lagoon, or Eva 3.0. Producer and musician Hiroaki Yura (Project Phoenix) will also be present with game producer Jiro Ishii and designer and mangaka Yusuke Kozaki. Japanese voice actress Saori Hayami rounds out a really long list of guests that has all sorts of people I left out too, like a few sumo wrestlers and a lecturer from NASA!
