Panzer vor! Girls und Panzer gets a movie

The lengthy wait begins anew

One of the best shows of 2012 (and 2013, since we're technically allowed to count the belated final two episodes) is getting more. While I'd frankly have been content to see Girls und Panzer laid to rest in its near-perfection as-is, it's at least comforting to know that the next big "GaruPan" work - a movie planned for next year, will carry nearly the entire crew at Actas that birthed it, including director Tsutomu Mizushima, who famously forbid his staff from working upskirts into the show. That move alone earned the man my eternal respect, and gave the chicks-in-tanks anime a certain dignity that many of even its more serious, intellectually aspiring peers did not have.

If nothing else, they saved that sort of stuff for the OVAs, of which there is another on the way. The next one will cover the battle against fake-Italian school Anzio Academy, a tournament fight which was unceremoniously skipped over during the main show to accelerate the pace to the battle against fake-Russians in Pravda. That's definitely something I'd like to see.
