Part 1 of Attack on Titan film compilation duology releasing this winter

Yes, folks, they're recaps

Had enough of Attack on Titan yet? I didn't think so, but just in case, here's a bit of news that'll either have you squealing your head off in fangirlish glee or shaking your head in disappointment that yet another series is being piledriven directly into the ground after having already saturated the industry with spinoffs, OVAs, and merchandise. Ready?

A theatrical version of Attack on Titan is hitting theaters, split into two parts. Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow, and Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 2: Wings of Freedom will be compiling the 25-episode anime series into two films, with the first releasing this winter and the second in 2015. The first movie, Crimson Bow and Arrow, will span episodes 1-13, with the second movie collecting 14-25. Footage will be re-edited with a new dub and 5.1-channel remaster, but what's going to change, really?

Honestly, there's really no need for a couple of Attack on Titan films or a remaster -- the series just came out. It's barely had time to simmer. I'm of the persuasion that these films will be quick cash grabs. Toss a third on into the mix with new material from the manga and then I'll be interested, but for now, I've made up my mind to pass on these. Given Attack on Titan's massive worldwide popularity, I'm almost positive these films will also make it to the US for an English release. Is anyone else going to check them out if the opportunity arises?
